Key Features And Innovations
What does it mean to be an Egyptian scribe? What materials did they use? Was it difficult? Who could be a scribe?
Scribes in Egypt had the knowledge of reading and writing. Scribes attended a special school and it was very hard, they learned hieroglyphs and studied hieratic scripts. Students practiced writing on papyrus or sometimes limestone was used. Not everyone could be a scribe “Most often it was the children of scribes who became scribes. Although some craftsmen were able to get their sons into the school for scribes” (British Museum). Scribes were a very important asset to Egyptians because of their skill in writing.
Q: What advancements did ancient Egyptians make in medical technology?

The Shadof was an innovation that helped egyptiains get water out of the nile. The counterweight method of raising and lowering things like this is still used to today.
One advancement the Egyptians made in medical technology was the process of embalming, the Egyptian had to learn a lot about the human body to know how to preserve it for thousands of years. Processes like taking out the organs because they would rot, and wrapping the body were very smart for their times. The Egyptians also knew how to splint and set broken bones, sew cuts, and embalm, they were very medically advanced.
Q: How was the Egyptian society organized?
The Egyptian society was organized by social groups, whatever group you were in decided your profession. The Egyptian pharaohs some upper class army officers, nobles, and priests were at the top. They lived in luxurious homes along the Nile. Trader’s artisans and scribes are in the middle class. Generally the middle class had smaller houses and dressed more simply. Lastly “the lowest but largest groups in Egyptian society was made up of farmers and unskilled workers” (Textbook) these people would live in houses made of mud brick, and they would eat a very simple diet.

The egyptains made many medical advancements like splinting broken bones and embalming. These are some of the tools they used. Egyptians were some of the first to make very large advancements in medical technology which had a lasting impact on the world.
Q: If you could be anyone in ancient Egypt, except the Pharaoh, who would you choose to be? Explain the reasons for your choice. Also, be sure to include advantages and disadvantages of your social position choice.
If I could be anyone in ancient Egypt a priest, I would pick this because priests have a lot of power and people would believe what they said. One problem with this though is that the pharaohs could become weary of me because I would have a lot of power, I could help to influence the people and I would hopefully use this for good.

The Egyptains pioneered boat development. They crafted their first river craft out of papryus reeds and then moved on to wood. Boats were great for trading and exploration and were used for thousand of years after the egyptians.

The egyptians kept many records and books that we still have today and we owe this to the invention of paper made from papryus. This paper had a lasting impact on the world because it was traded and used to keep many written records and writings.

One of the greatest Technological advancements/inventions the egyptians made was their pyramid building abilities, they figured out how to carry large stones across the dry and barren desert. They also figured out how to aleign their pyramids with stars in the sky. The pyramids had a lasting impact because they stood as the tallest man made structure on earth for almost 2000 years and were monuments of architectual innovation.
