Questions
-
Q: How did religion influence every aspect of ancient Egyptian life?
A: In everyday life people would go to the temple and worship the god associated with that temple. Also the Egyptians believed that their gods helped them with everyday things and were told to have protected the Egyptians.
-
Q: What are 3-5 characteristics of the ancient Egyptian religion/belief system (i.e. gods and goddesses, legends, view of the afterlife, etc.)?
The Ancient Egyptians religion was polytheistic which means they worshipped many gods such as Ra the sun god (who Akhenaton tried to change Egypt to worship only this god). As of the afterlife they believed that to be comfortable in the afterlife your body had to be buried with treasures and your personal belongings if you wanted to be comfortable in the afterlife. They had many temples each one having a different god associated with that temple. They as many as 2,000 gods and goddesses and each of them were “part animal and part human.” (Petersburg Times.)

Q: Why and how were the pyramids built, and how does it connect to the Egyptian religion/belief system?
Pyramids were related to Egypt’s religion because that is where the pharaohs were buried and the pharaohs where told to be “Gods”. Also the Egyptians believed that to have a good after life you had to be buried with riches and personal belongings. Archeologists know this because king Tut’s tomb was found to be unfound unlike, if not all, most other pharaohs. They were built using blocks of carved stone bricks.
